Fiancé visas (K-1): are available for the foreign fiancé of a US citizen who wants to come to the US in order to get married.

Immediate relatives: are relatives of US citizens who are eligible to immigrate to the US and receive legal permanent residence status (green card) immediately after their petitions have been processed. This includes the following:

Spouses (husband or wife) of US citizens, including same sex couples. If the US citizen spouse died the non citizen spouse may still be eligible as long as they have not remarried.

Children of US citizens under the age of 21 who are not married.

Parents of US citizens if their US citizen is at least 21 years of age or older.

Family preference immigrants: are relatives of US citizens or permanent residents (green card holders) who usually have to wait for several years after a petition is processed before they are eligible to immigrate to the US and receive legal permanent residence status (green card). This includes the following:

Sons and daughters of US citizens who are married or over the age of 21.

Brothers and sisters of US citizens, if the US citizen is over 21 years old.

Spouses (husband or wife), including same sex couples, of legal permanent residents (green card holders).

Unmarried sons and daughters (any age) of legal permanent residents (green card holders).
